GO.COMPARE’S EDITORIAL GUIDELINES

We provide guides, news, expert knowledge and handy tips to help you find the right product for the right price.

Our editorial guidelines make sure the content we’re producing is accurate, trustworthy and timely. When you compare with us, we want you to be in control. That’s why we’re equipping you with everything you need to make an informed choice.

Our editorial principles and values

All of our content – from our comparison tables to our product guides – embodies our values:

  1. Fair
We’re impartial. We’re not trying to convince you to pick this or that. No selection is insignificant, but only you know what’s right for you. This means you can trust that what we’re saying is fair and accurate.
  2. Accurate
We have knowledgeable specialists about pretty much every insurance type and financial product you could think of. Even ones that we don’t compare. Our only concern is giving you authentic information, to help you make good choices.
  3. Transparent
No hidden meanings. No jargon. Just the facts. We always cite where we get our data from. And we’re honest about the fact that we can’t give you personal advice (because we don’t know your personal situation).

Our guides, articles, tips and news pieces all follow these principles:

  • The main aim of our content is to help you make well informed choices
  • You’re entitled to reliable and balanced information
  • We make sure our marketing communications and editorial content are obviously different
  • Content is driven by our main aim, not by how much money we can make
  • Our product guides are factual, not based on our personal opinions
  • Our content team uses established content processes to make sure what’s produced is to a high standard

Our editorial review process

All of our content is reviewed by our editor. But especially detailed or tricky pieces are also approved by a product or compliance expert. This means everything we write is fact-checked and true to our editorial principles.

Where we do link to external pages, we make sure what they’re saying matches our values. It’s checked for accuracy, transparency and fairness.

Our fact checking process

Our fact-checking process starts with the writer. All our content producers undergo extensive research and only use reputable sources.

Once the content is drafted, it gets checked over by a content editor. All sources will be checked and the content verified. If the topic is particularly sensitive or detailed, the content will be sent to an industry expert for further validating.

The last step in our fact checking process is sending the content to our compliance team for final approval. Only after moving through our fact-checking process is content published to our site.

Accuracy and corrections

Everything we publish will be as accurate and thorough as possible. You're trusting us to help you make better financial decisions, and that isn't something we treat lightly.

If you see anything on our site that needs another look, get in touch.

Our content and commercial partnerships

We don’t publish content based on it making us or our partners tons of money. Some of the expertise in our guides and articles comes from external specialists – a few of these contributors are from companies we have a commercial relationship with, but others we don’t. We team up to provide you with accurate and relevant information, to help you make the right choice.

But we aren’t a spokesperson for these brands. We sometimes share our content with them as a courtesy, they don’t have the final say on our content. And we don’t get paid for it either.
